Hey you! Yes i’m telling you. Hey people, I’m telling you.
It was not a long time ago when Facebook’s notifications and whatsapp’s messages were overloaded in your feed, the northern part of your state went under the water.
During the nights when peace was in your dreams, people from the vast areas of three districts were passing sleepless nights under the open
sky. When you saw the scenes of the devastating floods, you were distressed, but you were busy in sending the memes about the role of ministers in the flood, and there the people of the districts were waiting for a small quantity of food.
But yes, at the same time some of the people around you were helping us, someone gave money, some gave the clothes. We were raising funds for a hundred children in a school in Purulia to give new clothes for pujas, but the emergency situation took us a little away to the north. However, on the train of 24th august night, we had three young Turks-Karan Singh, Swadhapriyo Saha and another (called defiance) traveller for the purpose of delivering the flood reliefs. No no, you won’t find any difference between you and them. They are made of the same flesh and blood as like you, only they have the determination and will a bit more.
300 kg of “chire”or “chiura”, 75 kg of molasses, 158 pieces of soap, 100 packets biscuits, sanitary napkin, and saline were bought from Malda town for help. There was water everywhere on the knees, somewhere to the waist and somewhere even to the chest level. In the meantime, they rented a Small motor boat with reliefs and travelled about 30 kms from Malda town, with some of the local people and friends from the area, and finally reached to provide relief to a village named Pukhuria, there was no government relief sent to Pukhuriya till the time we reached there. After coming down to the water, the trio gave relief materials to the houses in the village. Eighth to eighty, rich from the poor no one has been exempt from nature’s wrath. After distributing all the materials from 12 pm to 3pm they came back as winners. Yes winners, to us they are not just the common people, they are the winners.
Again, if we did not have Tanjina Yasmin going around the streets, informing in the shops or collecting money from nearby people, we could have failed. Thanks and tons of love from us Tanjina. Thanks kuntaleena for coming forward to help us. And if the trio weren’t there the flood relief programme would have failed. Thanks to everyone who supported our efforts and helped with the same.
Soon we will be updating Purulia’s work, stay with us, come forward.
