Minakha… This place always has taught us some important lessons which eventually helped us to be more mature, more experienced and more motivated later on. 2 years back when we organized an event there, we faced a hammering blow on our face by the horrific conditions of the natives suffering from silicosis. We understood how cruel fate could possibly be. We tried our best to make a difference then. But the humbleness, the warm behavior and the ability to make us their own, ability to make us feel like home led us to organize another event there. But this time instead of helping only the suffering ones, we distributed 150 blankets among the aged villagers.
The same struggles, same everyday problems, the frightening glare of poverty and the most unfortunate inescapable grasp of the same old nemesis ‘silicosis’… These still haunt them. But we couldn’t help but be more envious of them by their determined attitude and the never-fading smile on their face. They are still fighting the monstrosities as a community, as a team and ‘Ghulghuli’ can’t be more honored than to help them in this arena. But what startled us the most was the blank beds and the abandoned half used oxygen cylinders inside locked rooms in which we interviewed many just 2 years back.
At last, it’d wouldn’t be fair if we don’t mention SHAHIDUL DA, without whom it was impossible for Ghulghuli to help the people of Minakha with whatever resources we have. What a humble and lovely spirit he has, he did manage to make us rethink our ways in life, he actually shaped our perspectives in a different way. For that we’ll be forever grateful to him.
Looking forward to go back their again and again and again.
